New Year Resolution Book Tag

new-year-resolution-book-tag

I saw Jenn post this on Thrice Read and it sounded like fun!  So here we go!

An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before).

Kylana: George R.R. Martin.  I’ve got a few friends who are in love with his books.  I’m a little skeptical but I’d like to try at least one.

Neko: Tamora Pierce. Kylana may not speak to me again if I don’t.

A book you’d like to read.
Kylana: Almost Famous Women by Megan Mayhew Bergman. It just sounds so interesting! I bought it recently so hopefully I’ll read it soon.

Neko: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I just saw it again in Barnes and Nobles. I have to read this book, it is haunting me!

A classic you’d like to read.

Kylana: The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway.  I actually know nothing about this book except that it was one of my Abuelo’s favorites.  I see the word Cuban when I went to link this so perhaps that’s why, being 100% Cuban himself.

Neko: War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. I got over halfway through it as a young teen, but school, music, and a social life got in my way. So once more with feeling!

A book you’d like to re-read.

Kylana: I’d like to re-read the Harry Potter series.  I haven’t read it in nearly a decade and I’m curious to see what I take out of it now.

Neko: Lady of the Forest by Jennifer Roberson. Yup broken record here, but it’s been years since I last got my copy out. Time to give it a good dusting.

A book you’ve had for ages and want to read.

Kylana: Good to Great by Jim Collins. I’m pretty sure I’ve already mentioned this book before but I brought it to work to hopefully get myself to read it. I’ve had it for a few years now after too many successful people mentioned it as life changing.  I’ll probably make it a Feb TBR book.

Neko: Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. The whole series really. I’ve had them for ages on my kindle, no clue why I haven’t gotten round to them yet…

A big book you’d like to read.

Kylana: Cheating!  I’m using the Harry Potter Series again for this one.

Neko: The Bible. Never read the whole thing actually… Or War and Peace, but I already mentioned this one ^_^

An author you’ve previously read and want to read more of.

Kylana: I’ve got a few for this one so I’m not really sure… I guess I could go with Kathy Reichs, I’m curious to see how her books progress.

Neko: Richard L. Mabry M.D.. He wrote the Prescription for Trouble series, a review of the first book is coming. I loved Code Blue and really want to read his other works.

A book you got for Christmas and would like to read.

Kylana: I actually didn’t get any books for Christmas but I did buy myself a huge box of books from Book Outlet on boxing day (that sale was evil!) and have a ton of books from that I want to read. She Is Not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick keeps catching my eye so I guess I’ll go with that.

Neko: I don’t get books for Christmas because I sit and read and ignore the family until I am finished with it, which usually happens in a day or two… Bad kitty…

A series you want to read (start and finish)

Kylana: Since I already own the books I’ll go with the Pure Series by Julianna Baggott.  It sounds like it could be interesting but I’m a little so-so on it.

Neko: Hitchhiker’s Guide. I see it every time I turn on my Kindle…

A series you want to finish (that you’ve already started)

Kylana: Alpha Girl by Aileen Erin, I’ve only read the first book but I really enjoyed it.

Neko: Prescription for Trouble by Dr. Mabry. I need to find more medical fiction.

Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2017?

Kylana: I do! I have a few as listed in the January TBR post.  My Goodreads goal is 60 books. I’m 6 in so far so I think I’ll do okay 🙂

Neko: CopyCat Neko has the same Goodreads goal of 60 books. I am also 6 books in, lol.

Kylana: I’m going to tag Becky from Book to the Becky, Lia from Lost in a Story & Royal Book Review for this.  Can I also “tag” anyone who is interested? If you fill it out please post a link in the comments so I can check it out 🙂

  1. Thanks for the tag! I read the first book in the Pure trilogy a while ago and thought it was pretty good, but I never gotten around to read the next two books.

  2. This looks like tons of fun so thanks for the tag! George R. R. Martin is someone everyone raves about that I’m skeptical of too. Interested to hear your thoughts when you get fo him. Also looking forward to reading The Night Circus too!

  3. I recommend rereading the Harry Potter books by audiobook because it’ll be a treat.
I’ve tried reading the entire Bible before. It didn’t work. One of the bloggers on the Bibliosanctum blog mentioned reading the Bible by audiobook with different actors doing the narration. She said it was good so I’d like to give that a try.
